On Friday, 22nd May, St Stephen’s Girls’ Primary school, celebrated English Day. An amazing collection of characters from the favourite books of students, teachers and parents arrived at school, when everyone dressed up for the day. There was much laughter and many smiles, discovering who everyone was. The girls were surprised when they discovered that their teachers had been replaced by characters like The Cat in the Hat, Little Red Riding Hood, The Paper Bag Princess, The Chef, a witch and a wizard.
Although parents were able to award prizes for the character parade, it must have been very tough, as the level of creative thought, that went into designing all the character costumes, was enormous.
Using English all during the day, the “little sisters” of Primary 1, 2 and 3, received much joy, when the “big sisters” in Primary 4, 5 and 6, proudly shared their stories, plays and board games.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parents, who compared and judged the parade and led classroom activities with the Primary 1 to 3 students. We must not forget the teachers, who supported the girls, encouraging participation and fun. Without the support of all the parents and all the girls, this day of energy and enthusiasm for English learning, would not have been possible.
We are proud of our girls for their love of learning English.
